Seven Letters

Photobucket
1 // 2 //

Thank you for all the love yesterday on the new layout :) I quite love it too. Today I was thinking about what I wanted to write about and in reading some of yalls posts, I couldnt help create an internal dialogue of what I would write for a Friday Letter.
So there, I am going to try and take a stab at it.

1. Dear Phone Alarm Clock,

Please don't take me seriously when I turn off your alarm unknowingly why still fully asleep. You need to start reading me better, I feel like I already know everything about you.

Love,  the tardy girl who pays your bills.

2. Dear Atlanta Drivers,

Please stop door dinging my freaking car, backing into it and not leaving a note, and swerving in my lane. I would truly appreciate it if you ignored the invisible sign above my car that must read "Please cut me off because it would make my day."

Sincerely, the woman who just mentally screamed F* you.

3. Dear Heart,

Please make up your mind and stop complicating everything. Please just do what I want you to do and start putting yourself on the defrost setting. You're making my life a living hell.

Love, the one who loves being alone too much.

4. Dear Massive White BMW,

For the love of whoever you believe in, STOP taking up two parking spots in the front lot which is prime parking.

Love, your neighbour who has debated keying the side of your car.

5. Dear TY (My little Mazda),

I would appreciate it if you started paying for your own food gas. You're starting to be really high maintenance. But I also want to apologize for all of the idiots who beat you up while I am not there. Don't feel bad if you want to hit back. You have my permission.

Love, your wonderful owner.

6. Dear Weekend,

I am in love with you. Please stay longer and come around more often.

Love, Your stage 5 clinger.

7. Dear Readers,

You all are rockstars and are amazing. I love you guys so much. Your comments make my day and just make life better.

Love, Lindsay

Law Enforcement & Nerds

So... Apparently I have a thing for men who are in Law enforcement and men who are nerds. Or both. But only on T.V..... Yeah. Anyone who knows me knows I am a HUGE crime series fanatic. I was the only 12 year old girl who swore up and down that she was going to be a Forensics Scientist. I even went as far as to take forensics and criminology classes before finding out heartbreakingly that the college I was attending didn't offer said expertise. Cue the heartbreak shatter sound.
But, it's okay. I can still get my fix via ridiculous crime dramas that keep me up 'til 4 am on the weekends. Current obsessions you ask?
-Criminal Minds
-Bones
-The Mentalist
-NCIS

No, CSI just doesn't do it for me anymore. I am sorry CSI, I have moved on. But with this, I have fallen in "like" with some of the leading men from the series. And there is a pattern. Either they are the backseat, crazy smart nerds who come through to solve a case, or they are the strong and incredibly hunky "hero" men.
I am pathetic. Like to the point where I see them on a commercial and can't help but smile. I am on the path to romance novels and cats and an intervention just might be in my future.
But please, join the path with me, and fall in "like" with my hunky, hearth palpitation causing crushes.

Oh... you know. Feeling like a 13 year old at a Justin Beiber concert.

I am very intersted though... Who are your leading television series men? Please, the asnwers are greatly welcomed because after this post, I might just be labeled a crazy person.

Music Monday - Massive Attack

Hey everyone! Sorry I am so late posting Music Monday, but today has been non stop. So here I am, writing in the too early hours of the morning because I can't sleep. I am going to be brief with today's featured group.

Massive Attack:

Massive Attack are an English DJ and trip hop duo from Bristol, England consisting of Robert "3D" Del Naja and Grant "Daddy G" Marshall. Working with co-producers, as well as various session musicians and guest vocalists, they make some incredible records and tour live.
I will admit, some of their music is hit or miss with me, but when it hits, it hits hard. They have a ridiculously different style of music that is enthralling, haunting, and mysterious. I love it. So take a listen and release yourself into thier art form of music as I find myself doing.

Say Hello To My Little Friend

Ahh it's FRIDAYYYYYYYYY!! So happy right now, you have no idea....Or maybe you do? Any exciting plans for the weekend?

First off let me please tell you ONE IMPORTANT thing! PLEASE people, please... Make sure you have your EMAIL set up in your BLOGGER PROFILE. I truly do my best to reply to all of your comments, but if you haven't set up your email, my replies along with loads of others are getting lost in "Blogland Abyss". What is "Blogland Abyss"? It is where email replies to comments go to never be seen or read again. sad sad sad.
My awesome thoughts of thankfulness to share back with you aren't getting through. And we just can't have that. YOU need to know how thankful I am for all of your comments. Please see Exhibit A below:

Exhibit A:
Photobucket

Any questions? Feel free to email me. My email is in my profile.

Moving on, I would like to share an amazing person with you today. This girl is... Amazing. I wish I could just have an oz. of the pixie dust of her awesomeness. Miss Elise and I went to college together where I completely fell in love with her... And her closet... Really. I would go through her snow covered bedroom window in 10 degree weather just to borrow a shirt. (She has amazing taste). I was reminded of her hallelujah-ness when I spoke to her on the phone this week and how it made my whole day whole week. She has finally committed to getting on this blog wagon for good and I need your help in holding her accountable. So please meet one of my favorite gals.... ELISE! (Said like Bob Barker)

Photobucket

Hey! I'm Elise. I blog over at "Comma with a "K". I'm a wife to an engineer by day, and cowboy by night and weekend. I'm also a stay at home mom to one amazing little boy by second, minute, hour & day! We call Boise, Idaho home, but we are currently living in northern Colorado for work. I choose to blog daily in sweats [always] during nap time instead of cleaning our little Colorado condo, doing laundry, and getting ready for the day [if we're being honest]! So welcome to all the random happenings, motherhood successes and failures, and very rare tellings of my house wife duties...blog!

Go check her out and fall in love with her as I have.

A Little Inspiration

Sooo... Sorry for the depressing post yesterday and thank you for all of your amazing comments. You guys are amazing. But today was one of those days where I wanted to open up FIVE lines of credit and re-do my whole bedroom. Luckily, I kept my sanity and just stalked Pinterest instead. What was in my mental idea book? Well... Let me show you and take a look.

Photobucket

Photobucket

I have been Dying for a dream bedroom. And if you so nicely remember from one of my 2012 resolutions, this is something I wanted for this year. But I think know my wallet/budget is disagreeing with me. I seriously just need to win the lottery. Or just become famous.

A Troubling Admission

One of the reasons I started this blog was to let my friends and family stay a little updated on my life. It then turned into my online journal of sorts, which turned into therapy which turned into my outlet for life. As many of you know and remember from previous posts, I have been having a lot of problems with my inner ear and vertigo episodes/ attacks. I don't know why I haven't shared this earlier, just hasn't really hit me I guess.
I was recently diagnosed with Meniere's Disease. Now, this isn't life threatening or something I can die from, but it does make life a little more troublesome.

And no... That's not a vagina, it's an ear/ inner ear :)

Photobucket

What is it you ask?

Meniere's disease is a chronic disorder of the inner ear that causes spontaneous episodes of vertigo — a sensation of a spinning motion — along with fluctuating hearing loss, ringing in the ear (tinnitus), and severe debilitating nausea.

Symptoms:
  • Recurring episodes of vertigo. Vertigo is similar to the sensation you experience if you spin around quickly several times and suddenly stop. You feel as if the room is still spinning, and you lose your balance. Episodes of vertigo occur without warning and usually last 30 minutes to 8 hours or more, up to 24 hours. Severe vertigo can cause nausea and vomiting. (it always does)
  • Hearing loss. Hearing loss in Meniere's disease may fluctuate, particularly early in the course of the disease. Eventually, most people experience some degree of permanent hearing loss.
  • Tinnitus. Tinnitus is the perception of a ringing, buzzing, roaring, whistling or hissing sound in your ear. With Meniere's disease, tinnitus is often low-pitched.
  • Aural fullness. Aural fullness is the feeling of fullness or pressure in the ear.
... I get vertigo so bad that all I can do is turn off all lights and sounds, get on all fours and put my head in a pillow. The spinning never ends. It gives me the worst case of nausea to the point where I am dry heaving and cant stop. The ringing and roaring in my ear is constant and affects everything.

I have already lost partial hearing in my right ear and there is a chance that more hearing loss can occur.

The disease appears to be the result of the abnormal volume or composition of fluid in the inner ear. There is still little known about Meniere's Diseases, its causes, and treatments. The inner ear is such an intricate part of the body.

What am I doing for it now?

I have had to completely change my diet. NO SODIUM... which ='s everything I love. Sodium severely alters the fluid in your body. I also have to go on a daily diuretic which regulates said fluid but also drains my body of Potassium.. which is all energy. So I am like severely worn out all the time like I just ran 10 miles.

I'll stop here but all in all, it is what it is and is something I have to learn to live with. Luckily I have medicine on me at all times to "help" vertigo attacks but this is something that might affect the rest of my life. I just wanted to vent about how much I hate this. how I am so afraid of losing my hearing and how much I have taken it for granted. I just want this to go away and not be paranoid 24/7. Not have it affect my life like it already has in so many ways. Trying to be cool about this and be in high spirits.

For now though, Happy Wednesday.

Music Monday - Jaymee Dee

Hey There! Happy Martin Luther King Day all!

Let me please start off this Monday by telling you how excited I am to share this artist with you for Music Monday. She is gorgeous, talented, and a HUGE upcoming deal. I hope. The point of Music Monday is to bring just a little more recognition to some awesome artists. Especially up and coming ones like this. So please, please please go check her out.

Who am I talking about you ask?

Jayme Dee

Jaymee has the most chilling soulful voice that is absolutely mesmerizing. She can take a song and completely make it her own. She started off by doing covers and is starting to release her own stuff (Listen here!). I can listen to her for hours. I love her self written "bio" :

"Hi! I’m Jayme. Bio’s ordinarily bore me so if you don’t mind, I’ll spare you the drabness and try to maintain a certain level of wittiness along the way ;)
I enjoy long walks in South Central Los Angeles. Since I attend the University Of Southern California, I am lucky enough to roam the streets so close to my abode. Might I add, I keep pepper spray and a pocket knife on me at all times.
I hate cats. Sorry for all you cat enthusiasts who build shrines for your felines but I just don’t like them. They are sneaky, conniving, mini lions I tell you.
My guitar is my best friend. But really. I have no friends other than my guitar.
Amy Winehouse is my idol. Except for the cocaine addiction, binge drinking, rehab, tattoo’s, abusive relationships, jail time, etcetera. Other than that, she’s great!
I don’t like flowers. or nail salons. or pink. yuck.
I would kill a man for anything chocolate. A day without chocolate is a day without sunshine. When no one understands me, chocolate is there to listen.
I love initiating awkward situations. They make me feel happy for some obscure, unknown reason.
My favorite food (other than chocolate, but that is more like an element necessary for life) is watermelon. If you’re thirsty, it quenches. If you’re hungry, it fulfills. What a perfect combination. I think that sums it up."

So watch some videos below of her awesome talent and maybe go look her up

Have Fun With This One

Itssssssss..... THURSDAY... I just said that in my mind like the Price is Right guy would from the low to the high voice. Speaking of Price is Right (Funny story, this wasn't planned - literally just came to me as I wrote this) Check out this Sa-Weet little story board of my mom in the 80's.

Photobucket

She won a car. A-Ha-Some. O and you're welcome - She's going to KILL me now. But I think this is a pretty good intro to an Awkward and Awesome post right? So without further adieu...

Awkward:
-My mom refusing to share this tape (literally hid it from her husband) only to have her whole family make us watch it Christmas day. I'm liking the parachute pants, 80's hair, and socks with flats. Mother has it goin on.
-Forgetting the name of the neighbour you talk to EVERY DAY while introducing your new roommate. Sorry guy!
-My Christmas tree is still up? Got a definite "crazy lady" look from the maintenance man
-Thinking I looked pretty good today for work only to have the first thing said to me... "How are you feeling? You look kind of... Well... Ehh" Ya... As I so awesomely tweeted here
-Forgetting how to do simple math in front of people. Went something like "well 9 goes in 36 eight times".. It doesn't, its 4. I'm pretty sure? Yes, just checked on my calculator.  (real time updates on this blog)
-Running into people from high school you don't want to see. Still awkward EVERY time though it happens often.
-Pants paranoia during lady time of the month. Let's be real here

On to the next part:

Photobucket

Awesome:
-Getting this bad boy for Christmas and breaking him out at E-ver-ry opportunity.
-Getting to work from home a couple days each week.
-Asking YOU this important question.. ha ha... Should I go back blonde, go a little lighter.. or stay dark for my next hair appointment? Need the help ladies
-Having faith in God that everything will work out even though inside I'm freaking out like a rabid squirrel
-Starting and sticking to my "Healthy Eating" goal this week. I can already tell a huge difference.
-Losing 2.3 lbs
- Got a tripod for badboy above. Thinking of keeping his name BadBoy or changing it to BA- Bad Ass. I name my loved items. To me, they have feelings (Re-insert line into awkward)
-One more day 'til da weekend.... C'mon, c'mon, c'mon!!
-Getting better at this whole walking thing

There you have it lovelies! Hope you have a splendid day!

A Few Words of Professtional Advice I wish I knew Earlier

Happy Hump Day Everyone! Yes, It's already Wednesday, hump day, as in the mid day of the work week... No, not like a pelvic thrust. Just wanted to clear that up.

But anyways, today I wanted to write a few words of advice that I wish I had gotten in college or right when starting my career. I know some of you are just starting big jobs, have awesome hubbys who work big jobs, or are thinking of one in the future. Please so kindly read these tips that I so dearly wish I knew when first starting off.

Please know though, this is mainly for a professional and or corporate setting. But either way, we all have to conduct ourselves in this manner at some point of our lives so it is good to know regardless.

Photobucket

Here we go:

1. No one cares more about your career/future goals than you do. In business, you alone are the only one truly looking out for your career. Now, some of us might be lucky with a kick-ass mentor or boss, but at the end of the day, it has to be about (In a respectable manner of course) YOU. You must look out for your own future to get to where you want to be because in Business and Corporate America, you rarely get favors.

2. Be careful who your trust. Unfortunately, I had to learn this one out the hard way. Please learn from my mistake. Just because you have a good personal and professional relationship with someone, does NOT mean that you can trust them when it comes to your career. Please Please Please be careful about what you tell people you work with. I thought that many people were my "friends" at work. Majority of them are just colleagues. Which leads me to my next point.

3. Never divulge your personal life in a professional setting. Another hard lesson learned. Best tip: Always keep them guessing. You have no idea how conniving people can be and you never want them to use something against you. There is a time and a place for personal talk. Work isnt one of them. Granted this is to a point, but you get what I am saying.

4. Be accountable, respectable, and act admirable. Do not throw someone underneath the bus because they are an easy scapegoat. Present yourself in a respectable manner and I promise you, it will get you further in your life the RIGHT way. Be accountable for your actions and always always act ethically. People will always remember and respect that. Especially upper management.

5. Don't get caught up in Office Politics and Office Gossip. Just dont. Its petty. And when someone invloves you, just hold yourself with Grace and walk away.

6. Always know whats going on around you. Just be aware of where the company is going and what projects others are working on. It helps you to always stay in the loop and is use this to your advantage.

7. Network and make as many contacts as possible. You never know what could happen in the future with your career. With that said, burn as little bridges as possible and make as many contacts ("friends") as possible. You never know when they or you might need a favor.

8. Be careful who you tell company information to. Just watch what you say and who you say it to.

Photobucket

These are the best words of advice I have come to live by at work. Hope this is able to help you in some shape or form.

What is the best advice you have gotten? I would LOVE to know and LOVE for you to share.

According To My Phone & Some Ramblings

So here we have a classic case of the phone picture dump. Here is what my life looks like according to Mr. Droid. I must say, it's quite comical. So have at it and enjoy my good friends.

Photobucket

Photobucket

What exactly have I been up to you ask? Well let me tell you:
1. Brad and I's friendship in its entirety
2. Some AMAZING Mexican food
3. Kristie and Lauren make two hilarious friends
4. Chik-Fil-A is a life necessity - I believe so anyways
5. Awkward. Buffalo.
6. Brothers singing in Primary for Church

Part Dos. (Sp?)
1. NYE Outfit! Loved. (Stolen from my new roomie's closet) Oh yah, I have a roomie now!
2. Reached 100 Followers! YES! Yall are AMAZING! Giveaway Soon.
3. Me and Timara in 60 years. Okay... maybe 50
4. Decided to actually get ready for work
5. New Nail Polish. In Love. (Last part said 5 octaves higher)
6. And NYE again.

So this is just a little of what life has been for Miss Lindsay Nicole. There actually is a WHOLE lot more but I'll get to that eventually. On a side note, the New Year has proved quite trying. I am not too sure 2012 is going to be my year. BUT... I am staying optimistic. Optimistic People...... Deep Breath.
Moving on. Work has been pretty crazy lately... Long story short... Looks like I might have to look for a new job due to Gov't... Contracts.... Proposals won... blah blah blah... Please pray for me!

Love Life you ask? Um.... No idea. I have issues. Like bad. "Macgyver couldn't fix the shit going on in my head". Anyone..Anyone? I just feel NUMB and need to stop overthinking things. Thing is though, I love doing the whole ME thing right now. So though currently I am dating myself, (I make an awesome relationship partner) there might be a pretty awesome guy around. Time will tell.
The Knee... MRI next week! OFF crutches. OUT of a knee brace. Walking semi-regularly. BOOM!
Family? Brothers are hilarious as ever! I will end with the best conversation ever.

Me: I can't believe how big the boys are getting. Ugh... I wish they would stay this way forever
Mom: I know. It seems like just yesterday Tanner was three. Tanner, do you remember when you were three?
Tanner (age 5): Yeah.... Those were good times.

Happy Tuesday :)

Music Monday - Lana Del Rey

Happy EPIC return of Music Monday everyone. I apologise that we got a little off track with the holidays, but we are a go for the rest of the year. On a side note, hope you all had a FANTASTIC weekend. Can't wait to read about it.

So this week's chosen Music Monday is.....:

Lana Del Rey

Lana (Elizabeth Grant) was born and raised in NY and is an incredibly talented singer - songwriter. Self described as a "Gangsta Nancy Sinatra", she has a soulful modern day style. Her voice is enthralling and addictive. I honestly feel like I am living out a daydream watching her videos and looking through her photos. Not to mention, she is absolutely breathtakingly gorgeous. Complete girl crush.

Though she does not have many songs out today, I hope she is one to stay around and I look forward to see what else she has to bring to the table. This one truly has talent.

Oh... and you MUST watch the video below. It has been on repeat all day.

So please meet Miss Lana Del Rey~

Blog

Hey guys! First off I would like to thank Lindsay for letting me be a part in this swap! My name is Whitney. Like Whitney Huston. And no I wasn’t named after her. I blog over at “The Zufelt's”…  Zufelt is our last name (it’s pronounced Zoo-felt… like you went to the petting ZOO and you FELT the animals). I know  I know -the title of our blog is super creative. I love pink. I honestly can’t help it. I have this preconceived notion that anything pink should belong to me (much to my husband’s dismay). I love anything sparkly. I believe that a good pair of shoes can help you take on the world. I love the beach although the freezing water here in Cali and I don’t get along. My husband is the most amazing person that I know… And he is way cooler than me (I’m not ashamed to admit it). He flies airplanes. Hot right? He is also in the Air Force and I have not yet mastered the art of not missing him when he is away… and I don’t think I ever will.  I am girly but I can also go climb a mountain with my husband. I love meeting new friends (Like Lindsay!) it’s so fun to see what we all have in common. So come say “hi” over at my little corner of the internet.

Hi! I'm Daina. I moved to New York City in 2003 to attend NYU and instantly fell in love with my new home. Years later, I still pinch myself as I walk through the city to make sure I am not dreaming. The energy, people, and sights are unlike anywhere else. I blog about my adventures and life in one of the greatest cities in the world. I enjoy writing about my loves of family, friends, food, travel, and the simple pleasures of life in New York City.

Hello there! I'm Jenna, and I blog over at The Life of the Wife. That is where you will find lots of ramblings from my life, with some tutorials, recipes and fashion thrown in!

Some random facts about me:
I am very sarcastic, and I don't take things (or myself) too seriously.
I LOVE cereal and would eat it for every meal if it was socially acceptable!
 I have naturally red hair
I am a new Mama to my baby boy Davis.
 I loathe cottage cheese.

If all THAT doesn't make you wanna stop by my blog, I don't know what will! (See? Sarcasm.)
Loves!
Jenna

Hi y'all!
My name is Alana Christine; I'm an MBA student, avid blogger, and full-time Foster Mom.  I'm living life the only way I know how, and learning a lot along the way.  My blog is a critical part of my life--it's my place to share my thoughts, record things that have happened to me, and tell my funny stories.
Come on over to Life & Times of the Intelligent Blonde to share in my journey of being a 20-something, an Oklahoman, and of course, a Blonde...
