A Day For Words

Do you ever have those days where you feel the need to be inspired? Have a need for emotional rejuvenation? Or want to feel that belief in people again? Well friends today is one of those days.

We say that actions speak louder than words; I completely agree with this. However, I do believe there are moments when words can touch us greater than actions alone. When this happens, there is a small beautiful moment that can take place if we let it. This is the moment when we let go of our pride and self absorbed views and Listen. We not only hear or read the words that are being spoken or written. But we listen and hold on.

It is easy to give up hope of people after they have let us down beyond disappointment. It is easy to not extend kindness to others after we have been hurt. There is a theory in a book I once read, Leadership & Self Deception, that says as humans, we are so quick to live inside a box where there is only room for our self and our ego. This is a place where we think only of ourselves and justify our judgement of others. But when the moment comes where we think of others first and quit justifying our inaction, we begin to step outside of our tiny box and begin to see people for their wonderful qualities and the world for what it really is. A gift.

“Generally speaking, the most miserable people I know are those who are obsessed with themselves; the happiest people I know are those who lose themselves in the service of others...By and large, I have come to see that if we complain about life, it is because we are thinking only of ourselves.” President Gordon B. Hinckley

For those who have hurt you beyond repair, forgive and let go.
For those you judge wrongfully - respect, understand, and love.
For the moments we feel alone and forgotten - Remember you are loved and are never truly alone.

The words below are only a few of many that I hold on to. We each have our own. This is a day for words, whether we want to listen or not.
